Artistic Director

Co-founder as well as General Manager and Artistic Director of Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique since 1999, Francine Gagné is an actor in the field of contemporary dance for more than 25 years. She started her career as a performer, before dedicating herself to develop this choreographic centre, which is now a reference on a national and international scale. The Québec dance artists have the opportunity to work with internationally renowned teachers, thanks to the development and advanced training programs she has set up. Since the establishment of Circuit-Est in the Édifice Jean-Pierre-Perrault in 2008,  new challenges are opening up to her. She is developing new international exchange programs and concrete actions to support emerging artists in contemporary dance, as well as cultural mediation projects.
Passionate by all that touch the art of movement, she worked as a dancer and rehearsal director with choreographers such as Lucie Grégoire, Jocelyne Montpetit, Sylvain Émard, Josiane Antourel, Jan Komarek, Emmanuel Jouthe. Her interest for movement and music led her to collaborate with several musicians, among which Pierre Tanguay, Jean Derome and Rainer Wiens, for performances in dance-music and  for choreographic works
