Matteo Maffesanti was born in Verona in 1972. He is director, video maker and performer. He uses the language of theatre and video art in the artistic and social context and his main interest is focused on the body's language and disability. He graduated in Teatro Nucleo_Ferrara, directed by Cora Herrendorf. His personal career was marked by the encounter with quite important leaders in the national and international theatre, video art, film and movie scenes: Horacio Czertock, Lucy Cash, Gitta Wigro, Nicole Sailer and Andrea Segre. In collaboration with the University of Verona he created the short film Cinquanta di questi giorni, edited and distributed by Aracne Editore_Roma with the support of Regione Veneto. Since 2011 Matteo started his collaboration with some Italian choreographers and performers: Alessandro Sciarroni, with the project Folk-s, he created the short film "Will you still love me tomorrow?", winner of the second prize at Festival K0 at Centrale Fies and selected by the Festival Teatri di Vetro 2013_Roma. And with Francesca Foscarini, he created for her the video for the perfomances: kalsh, Cantando sulle ossa and Gut Gift, the new creation by Yasmeen Godder. In 2012 he was involved as videoartist in the projects: SPAZIO a European network for dance creation, supported by CSC Bassano del Grappa, ICK Amsterdam, Art Station Foundation Poznan, HIPP-Zagreb Dance Center. ACT YOUR AGE, European dance project focusing on active aging and intergenerational dialogue through dance, supported by CSC di Bassano del Grappa in partnership with the Nederlandse Dansagen Festival of Maastricht and the Dance House Lemesos. As a performer, with Collettivo Jennifer Rosa, based in Vicenza, Matteo participated in the performances: Stato in moto e A different you presented at Emerson Gallery in Berlin. He is also founder of Collettivo Elevator Bunker, a group of artists working with young people with different abilities. He created with them the performance Shoe. At the present he is involved in two different artistic projects: as performer he created, with the choreographer and dancer Tiziana Bolfe, VOR, visual/dance performance with the supervision of Nicole Sailer; as video artist he is collaborating with the performer Chiara Bersani in the independent movie Miracle Blade.
