France - La Briqueterie
Cecile Proust is an artist, a choreographer, a teaching specialist, in charge of the programme femmeuse. She has been an interpreter with Q. Rouiller, J.Pomares, Jean-Pierre Perrault, J. Baïz, Odile Duboc, Alain Buffard, Dominique Brun, Daniel Larrieu, Thierry Thieu Niang, Bob Wilson, and the Albrecht Knust quartet. At the same time she has travelled widely to learn and practice dances such as flamenco in Spain and Middle East dances in Egypt. Award winner of the Romain Rolland grand and of the villa Kujoyama programme, Cécile Proust has often travelled to India and Japan. She has practiced Kathak in New Delhi and Jiuta Maï in Kyoto. This practice, mixed with Western contemporary dance, theoretical thinking and critical supports have enabled her to question the construction of bodies, of dances, the production of gender and of sexual roles. Cécile Proust has completed the Master2 degree Art et Politique created by Bruno Latour at SciencesPo Paris. She has signed a number of choreographic creations and installations. In 2004, Cécile Proust set up femmeuses. An artistic and anthropological project questioning the place of women in the world and in the arts. The femmeusesactions have been presented in France and abroad, and especially in Brasil during the last two years, for various projects at the CCO in Rio de Janeiro, at the SESC in Belo Horizonte and at the art centre of Inhotim.
