John Mpaliza Balagizi is the Peace Walking Man. John is a citizen of Congo (Congo DR ). He lives in Italy since 1994 and permanently in Reggio Emilia since 1997.
John has a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Parma and works as a programmer / systems analyst and manager architecture
In 2010 he decided to make something to help his country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country that has suffered a war and an invasion lasted more than a decade. This war, orchestrated by multinational hi-tech has done more than 6 million deaths and as many refugees in the very silence of the international institutions. In Congo, according to the report "mapping" of the UN, there was a genocide in the decade between 1993 and 2003 but this does not seem to interest anyone. In fact, the only interest to many is the economic value of resources (see exploitation of minerals such as coltan). John decided to find a way to speak out against these war crimes, inform and educate as many people as he could about the situation in which is his country. He walked to Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and to Rome by foot,  to Bruxelles and met thousands of people bringing everywhere a message of peace.  John was a guest participant at the residency in Bassano del Grappa.
